Let's talk about negative ions. Despite the name, they're actually good for you! Negative ions are beneficial for our bodies, while positive ions can be harmful. You'll find the highest concentrations of negative ions in natural, clean air. Ions are invisible charged particles in the air, like molecules or atoms with an electric charge. Some are positive, and some are negative. Simply put, positive ions are molecules that have lost one or more electrons, while negative ions are oxygen atoms with extra negatively charged electrons.

Negative ions are abundant in nature, especially around waterfalls, the ocean, beaches, and in mountains and forests. They offer several benefits:

  1. The most important benefit is that negative ions clear the air of airborne allergens like pollen, mold spores, bacteria, and viruses.

  2. They also clear the air of dust, pet dander, and cigarette smoke. Negative ions do this by attaching themselves to positively charged particles, causing them to become too heavy to stay airborne. This prevents them from entering your airways and making you sick.

  3. They neutralize free radicals.

  4. They revitalize cell metabolism.

  5. They enhance immune function.

  6. They purify the blood.

  7. They balance the autonomic nervous system, promoting deep sleep and healthy digestion.
